Everyone wants an invite to the Flipboard party...
The introduction of the iPad has naturally seen a lot of forward looking magazine formats created for it (think Wired), but Flipboard have upped the stakes with what they’re touting as a personalised, social magazine. In their own words it combines “the beauty and ease of print with the power of social media”… and it actually kinda does. Others before have tried to create...

This year's best iPhone game just got better!
Flick Kick Football has just been updated. Those clever folk at PikPok have added a new ‘Bullseye’ game mode… you’re against the clock, the better you aim, the more points and valuable seconds you’re given. This’ll surely sort the men from the boys. If you missed the original review of Flick Kick Football go read it now.

Cloqwork. The strangest app description ever?...
The prize for the most curious app description goes to Akio Nagano who describes his own Cloqwork app as “This app is a poor function clock. Inhabitants of this app will make times harder.”. But, don’t be put off by what we think smacks of the work of an online translator engine (we’re sure the japanese description is a lot more accurate), despite its description Cloqwork...

Chocks away. MiniSquadron Special Edition (iPhone)
MiniSquadron Special Edition, sequel to the popular MiniSquadron, is a very well done plane shooter. Take to the skies and battle through waves of oncoming foe. Plays well and looks great. First two levels are free - further levels available as in app purchases. MiniSquadron Special Edition for iPhone is free on App Store.

1,000 Phaidon Design Classics (iPad)
This is basically an early attempt at creating a hefty coffee book table for the iPad. It features encyclopedia-like info and some lovely photos of 1,000 ‘timeless deisign classic’ from the likes of Starck, Dieter Rams and other simple products like the corkscrew, etc. It costs a whopping £11.99. Is it worth it? Probably not - the nice thing about a coffee book table is that it looks...

Flick Kick Football (iPhone). Simple genius.
PikPok, the people that brought us the brilliant Flick Kick Rugby (and Flick Kick Field Goal), have reversioned their kicking game just in time for the World Cup - and Flick Kick Football is even better than any of its predecessors. Like the others in the Flick Kick series, the objective of the game is simple, flick the ball and score… as many times as possible. But, in this footie version...

Danger! Dodgeball (iPhone)
Simple dodgeball game, tilt side-to-side to dodge, tip forward to throw - kinda fun to play and nice cartoon graphics, but the game really needs to be broken into stages with different opponents to keep it interesting. Worth a free download. Danger! Dodgeball for iPhone is free on App Store.

EA's FIFA World Cup - only 59p! (iPhone)
Electronic Art’s FIFA World Cup is currently available for 59p. I’m sure I saw this before for much more, so not sure how long this price is good for. An OK footie game, enjoyable enough but suffers the same problems as the rest that have gone before it - a full on football game on iPhone’s small screen is always going to be limited. Though for 59p it’s worth checking out....

Only Independence can save us now (iPad)
Okay, this isn’t an app - but it is July 4th which, for our cousins across the pond, is Independence Day. So, to keep it topical, here’s an interesting magazine about Independence… independent people, independent products, independent places… you get the idea. Disclosure time: We’re AppaholicsAnon* (emphasis on the ‘Anon’) so of course we can’t...
